John Fletcher, born 1774, in Frederick Co., Maryland, was the third son of Jacob Fletzer / Fletcher
(1742/43 - 1831) and Maria Magdalena Hess (1745 - 1828). Jacob (and probably his wife Maria)
is buried in the Fletcher Cemetery in Monroe Twp.

In 1809, in Bedford County, John Fletcher married Mary Means, who was born in 1780,
and the oldest daughter of Daniel & Elizabeth Sparks / Means.
 
Over the next 16 years they were parents to the following children:

Jacob Fletcher (1818 - 1887) married Rachel O'Neal (1825 - 1863) on March 11, 1845.
Rachel was a daughter of Solomon & Eve Beltz / O'Neal.
Jacob & Rachel were the parents of at least 8 children before Rachel died in 1863.
