The William Fletcher Family
Leah - VelvetCat2@aol.com - has provided the following Fletcher Family Photos and family
member information.
William Fletcher was born in 1828. On September 16, 1855, William married Mary Jane Claar, born
September 17, 1836 a daughter of Samuel Claar and Rachel Earnest. The 1860 Bedford Co.
census shows William Fletcher 31, and Mary J. 23, living next to Samuel Amick. Living with them is
their daughter Eliza J. 4, their sons John C. 2, and William 1/12. Also living with them is Rachel Claar 56,
(Mary Jane's mother) and Elizabeth Claar 13, (Mary Jane's sister). Over the next few years William
and Mary Jane would have two more daughters.
 
William & Mary Jane Fletcher's children were:
 
1. Eliza Jane Fletcher born 1856, married William Easter born 1853.
Eliza died in 1913 and William in 1928. Both are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
 
2. John Calvin Fletcher born Nov. 14, 1856, married Leah Klotz born May 10, 1863 on Aug. 12, 1882.
John Calvin died on Oct. 04, 1910, Leah on Sept. 15, 1933. They are buried in the Bedford Cemetery.

3. William Thomas Fletcher born May 1860 married Etta Miller born about 1865 on May 13, 1888.
William Thomas predeceased Etta who died November 28, 1940 in Cumberland, MD.
 
4. Susan Malinda Fletcher born May 16, 1864 never married. She died September 13, 1943
and is buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
 
5. Mary Ellen "Ella" Fletcher born May 20, 1867 married Daniel S. Mock born Feb. 19, 1864 in about 1886.
Mary Ellen died July 02, 1950 and Daniel died February 17, 1909. Both are buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bedford Co., PA
 
William and Mary Jane are still recorded as living in Bedford Twp in the 1870 and 1880 censuses.
In 1880 - William and family are living with Barbara Zimmers 65, and her daughter, Amanda Zimmers 30,
and two step-daughters, Mary Suter 10, and Annie Suter 8.

Probably built around 1840 - north of Imler, PA. This house was covered in insulbrick sometime prior to 1953.
 
Martin (May 21, 1819 - November 16, 1895) & Elizabeth Imler (February 09, 1824 - October 21, 1877)
/ Klotz would have raised their children on this farm.

John and Leah began raising their family soon after their marriage with the birth of Carrie Fletcher on
Oct. 4, 1883 and continued to add to their family until the birth of Eugene Carl Fletcher on June 07, 1909.
