I have hit a brick wall.
I am looking for the parents and siblings of Jacob Diehl/Deal
born in Bedford Co. in 1765,
married Elizabeth Shipley in1788 and had the following children:
John H. Deal b. 1789 Huntingdon
Co.,
Jacob Deal Jr. b. 1793,
Mary "Nancy" Deal
b. 1796,
Rosannah Deal b. 1798,
Elizabeth Deal b. 1800 Bedford
Co., and
Abraham Deal b. 1805.
The family moved to MontgomeryCo.,
Ohio around 1806. Jacob was a cabinetmaker and
was often called upon to
make coffins, which he sometimes delivered by horseback in Ohio.
Because of generations of naming children after parents, uncles
and grandparents I would
expect Jacob's immediate
family in PA to include the above family names.
In Ohio they lived near
or had strong associations with the
Miller, Bowman,
Weaver, Cripe, Hufford, Overholser, Kuns,
Berkshire and Wagoner families and
may have lived near them in PA. The
Diehls/Deals were members of the German Baptist Brethren/Church
of the
Brethren. All the information from Ohio places the family in
PA prior to
1800, but I have not been able to find any traces of the family
in PA.
